Maths Curriculum Statement

Mathematics is critical in helping us to understand and change the World. It plays a vital role in many aspects of life. Mathematics provides a broad range of skills in problem solving, logical reasoning and flexible thinking. Our intent is to nurture a sense of curiosity about mathematics and to enable our learners for “real-world” applications.

Our aims are to:

  • Excite and engage pupils in their learning
  • To explore enrichment opportunities to enhance students’ enjoyment of mathematics
  • To ensure all students leave with a secure, practical working knowledge of numeracy and maths at an appropriate level

Our curriculum will foster satisfaction in and enjoyment of mathematical experiences and equip learners with the mathematical skills needed for their future.

Pupils are set homework booklets half termly to develop their mathematical problem solving skills. There are a choice of tasks and these are self, peer and teacher assessed. THOA Homework Resources
