This trip was linked to their studies in Geography and History this year. They saw Abraham Darby’s blast furnace in Coalbrookdale where the iron for the world’s first iron bridge, railway track and steam locomotive was smelted. Pupils investigated the reasons why Ironbridge was the ideal location for the birth of the Industrial Revolution
Later they visited Blists Hill, a recreated Victorian Town, where pupils could experience what life was like in the Victorian period. Many pupils bought chips from a Victorian chip shop fried in beef dripping They said they were delicious!
