BTEC PE

Physical Education at Tenbury High Ormiston Academy is taught as a basis for lifelong learning, where pupils have access to a wide range of activities in the belief they will continue to have a physically active life and become confident movers.

The pupils across our school all have an opportunity to take on a leadership role within PE, which helps them develop confidence and competence in different skills and build resilience that enables them to overcome any challenge that may arise. Opportunities are given to all pupils to understand how their bodies move and the impact physical activity has on their body systems.  This is to further encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.  We provide opportunities to compete in sport and other activities, which helps to embed key values as respect, fairness and sportsmanship as well as building teamwork skills and other life skills. We are passionate about delivering a broad curriculum that provides the opportunity to experience competition through lessons and our extensive extra- curricular programme. We promote our house system through house competition and offer a wide range of competitive fixtures.

We believe that Physical Education adopts many life skills that prepares pupils for different aspects of life outside of the school. Through our curriculum, we foster an independent learning strategy, where we stretch imaginations, build curiosity and create life-long learners. We open pupil’s eyes to Physical Education being a tool to help relieve stress and anxiety, which is prevalent in the current world we are living in. In addition, PE provides the building blocks to live a healthy active lifestyle and promote the importance of sport and physical exercise in life.
