Worcestershire Teen Book Awards 2015

20th March 2015

A group of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils recently took part in the 8th Worcestershire Teen Book Award at County Hall, which was organised by the Schools Library Service. This was a great celebration of books and reading in Worcestershire’s Council Chamber.

They listened to the author James Dawson talking about his book “Say Her Name”, which was on the shortlist of books for the Award, and then took part in an Inter School Quiz about all six books which had been read by pupils throughout the County. Our team did very well and were placed in the middle of the group. Well done to all.

James Dawson’s book won the award but he was no longer with us when his name was read out as he’d had to return to London for his 2nd book prize of the day as the new Bookseller YA prize was being announced in the evening. Unfortunately he didn’t win that, but he was more pleased about ours as it was voted for by young people, not adults!
